Collector guide

How CLCT works

Transparent auctions and direct collecting — settled in Bitcoin.

Overview

Built for people who keep things.

CLCT presents collectible objects with clear records, high-resolution imagery, and auction history. Every auction is public, every bid is recorded, and every winner settles in Bitcoin.

Clear records

Factual descriptions, imagery, condition, provenance, and relevant grading or edition detail.

Public auctions

Current bid, bid history, reserve status, and closing time are visible to everyone. Bidder names appear masked.

Bitcoin settlement

Invoices are denominated in US dollars and paid on-chain or over Lightning.

Buying

Two ways to acquire a lot.

Auctions

Place a bid, or set a private maximum. A bid is bid in full. A maximum is a ceiling: CLCT bids for you one increment at a time and only as far as it needs to. The highest valid bidder wins at close, subject to any reserve.

Fixed price

Buy at the listed price. Starting a checkout creates an invoice; it does not take the lot off sale. Only a settled Bitcoin payment secures it, and on a lot that is also at auction, bidding continues until one does.

Before you can bid

Create an account, verify your email address, give your legal name, and accept the Conditions of Sale. Your legal name, email address and delivery details are never published — public bid history shows a masked username only.

Bidding

How a lot is won.

  1. 01 · Bid in US dollars

The lot displays the next bid, which is the smallest amount that will be accepted. Before you confirm, CLCT shows your amount, the 5% buyer’s premium and the resulting subtotal.
  2. 02 · Set a maximum, privately

Your maximum is never shown to other collectors. CLCT raises your bid only when someone bids against you, and never above your ceiling. If two collectors set the same maximum, the one set earlier wins at that amount. A maximum can be raised later, but never lowered.
  3. 03 · Meet the next bid

The next bid is the current bid plus the increment that applies at that price — the schedule below, in force now. You may bid any amount at or above it; the increment is a floor, not a required step.
  4. 04 · The Hot Zone — the final 2:00

A bid inside the final 2:00 that takes the lead resets the clock to 2:00 remaining, and every further leading bid resets it again. Bidding ends when two minutes pass with no new leader, so a lot cannot be won by arriving one second before the close. The house clock on the lot decides when bidding ends — never your device clock.
  5. 05 · Before you bid

Bids are binding and cannot be retracted. Read the full lot record, review the images, and read the Conditions of Sale before you place one.

Bid increments

The schedule in force. A bid below the next bid is refused; a bid above it is accepted.
Current bidIncrement
$0.00 – $999.99$21.00

$5,000.00 – $9,999.99$250.00

Fees

What a win actually costs.

A winning invoice covers two figures: the winning bid and the 5% buyer’s premium. Everything else is quoted separately.

Winning bid

Hammer

The price the lot reached at close.

Buyer’s premium

5%

Calculated on the winning bid and added to every sale.

Shipping, packaging, insurance, tax

Quoted

Separate from the winning bid and the premium unless a lot expressly says otherwise. Quoted for the winning collector after the sale, once payment has settled and the destination is known.

Amount due

USD

Invoiced in US dollars, payable in Bitcoin — on-chain or over Lightning.

CLCT packages shipments professionally, ships them insured, and emails tracking once a lot is on its way. The Conditions of Sale govern shipping, insurance and delivery in full.

After the sale

From close to doorstep.

  1. 01 · The auction closes

The highest valid bidder wins, provided any reserve has been met.
  2. 02 · An invoice is issued

To the winner alone, in US dollars, showing the winning bid, the 5% buyer’s premium, and the total due.
  3. 03 · You pay in Bitcoin

On-chain or over Lightning, within 48 hours of the invoice being issued. The dollar total is fixed; the Bitcoin amount is worked out against it when you generate a payment request and holds for 15 minutes, after which a fresh request quotes a fresh amount for the same dollar total.
  4. 04 · Delivery is arranged by email

Once payment settles, CLCT emails you to confirm the delivery address and arrange fulfillment. No address or delivery information is collected or shown while bidding is open.
  5. 05 · Insured delivery

CLCT packages the lot, ships it insured, and emails you the tracking details.

Selling

Consign through CLCT.

Submit an object or a collection through Sell with us. CLCT reviews every submission for fit, then works with accepted consignors to document the work, agree the format, and prepare the listing. Nothing is listed and nothing is committed by submitting.

  1. 01 · Submit

Tell CLCT what the object is — images, condition, provenance, and the sale format you want.
  2. 02 · Prepare

CLCT accepts, declines, or asks for more. Accepted items receive consignment terms before any sale is set.
  3. 03 · Sell

Your item is presented to a focused collector audience, at auction or at a fixed price.
